Job summary

Beloit Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Laboratory team. The MLT performs routine and specialized testing to support physicians and care teams, ensuring timely, accurate results and patient safety.

The role operates on a 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) with a 28–40 hour work week, sign-on bonus, and benefits eligibility. Collaboration with nurses and clinicians is essential to deliver high-quality laboratory services.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of an accredited MLT program.
• Certification as an MLT (ASCP) within one year.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures, testing methodologies, and quality control practices.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and LIS familiarity.
• Experience with automated laboratory instrumentation.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to accurately perform laboratory testing and specimen analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood bank.
• Collect, receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for analysis.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control procedures and document results.
• Verify and report test results within established turnaround times.
• Identify abnormal results and notify clinical staff of critical values.
• Maintain records using laboratory information systems (LIS).
• Follow laboratory safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist with inventory management and maintaining a clean laboratory environment.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

• Perform laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood bank in accordance with established procedures.


• Collect, receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for analysis.


• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
