Job summary

Beloit Health System in Beloit, WI is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Laboratory team on the 2nd shift.

The MLT will perform routine and specialized lab testing across hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood bank, ensuring accurate results, proper specimen handling, and adherence to safety and LIS documentation. This role includes a 28-40 hour week with a sign-on bonus and benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
• ASCP MLT certification within one year.
• Knowledge of lab procedures and QC practices.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and LIS familiarity.
• Experience with automated instrumentation.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to perform testing and specimen analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood bank.
• Collect, receive, process, and prepare specimens for analysis.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Perform quality control procedures and document results.
• Verify and accurately report test results within established turnaround times.
• Identify abnormal test results and notify appropriate clinical staff of critical values.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation using LIS.
• Follow all laboratory safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean laboratory environment.
• Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through ASCP within one year.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures, testing methodologies, and quality control practices.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
