The role requires an Associate degree in biological science or chemistry, plus completion of a MLS/MLT program or 3 years of CLIA-experience, and an active Florida MT/MLT license with ASCP/AMT/AAB certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in biological science or chemistry required.
• Completion of qualified medical laboratory science program or three years of acceptable clinical laboratory experience required.
• Must hold an active Florida MT or MLT State License with ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification required.
• 2–4 years of laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce and report laboratory results in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, automated chemistry, and automated immunology.
• Perform, interpret, and record quality control data in all departments.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation as prescribed in procedures.
• Call critical results.
• Perform inventory and maintain department supplies.

The role

AHA's Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting laboratory findings to physicians. The skills requirements for a Medical Technician include Occupational Specific, Technical Skills, Personal and Professional. AHA's MLT must meet the personnel responsibilities per CLIA Sec. 493.1495: Standard Testing personnel responsibilities.
