Job summary

American Health Associates in Pinellas, FL is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for a part-time AM shift. You will perform a full range of laboratory testing and report results to physicians, adhering to CLIA standards and lab procedures.

Requirements include an associate degree in biological sciences or chemistry, completion of an MLS program or three years of clinical lab experience, and a Florida MT/MLT license with ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification.

The role

AHA's Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting laboratory findings to physicians. The skills requirements for a Medical Technician include Occupational Specific, Technical Skills, Personal and Professional. AHA's MLT must meet the personnel responsibilities per CLIA Sec. 493.1495: Standard Testing personnel responsibilities.

What your day looks like

• Produce and report appropriate laboratory results in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and automated chemistry, and automated immunology
• Perform, interpret, and record quality control data in all departments
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation as prescribed in procedures.
• Call critical results
• Perform inventory and maintain department supplies

What you bring

• Associate degree in biological science or chemistry required
• Completion of qualified medical laboratory science program or three years of acceptable clinical laboratory experience required
• Must hold an active Florida MT or MLT State License with one of the following certifications: ASCP, AMT, or AAB required
• 2-4 years of laboratory experience preferred
