A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Laboratory Technician at Duncan Regional Hospital. This role involves analyzing specimens, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will hold an associate degree and ASCP certification, with strong communication and organizational skills. Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures to fulfill the requests of the prescribing physician. Performs clinical testing in any or all of the following laboratory areas: blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunology, microbiology, urinalysis, and may include phlebotomy. The lab technician works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Strong attention to detail, precision, and commitment to accuracy.
Skill in handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Education and/or Experience: Associate degree from an accredited institution. Broad knowledge of laboratory procedures to include laboratory equipment and use of a laboratory information system required. Moderate knowledge of medical terminology required.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Current ASCP medical lab technician licensure. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
