The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs clinical laboratory tests according to standard operating policies and procedures. This includes understanding method principles, performing quality control and calibrations, preventive maintenance, and analyzing results for accuracy and acceptability.
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or enrollment in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS), with completed laboratory rotations in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services. Equivalent military laboratory training and/or work experience (2 years) also meet the education requirement.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or another recognized certifying agency.
