Position Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs clinical laboratory tests according to standard operating policies and procedures. This includes understanding method principles, performing quality control and calibrations, preventive maintenance, and analyzing results for accuracy and acceptability.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Preparing patient specimens for laboratory testing and performing department-specific tests.
• Monitoring test results to ensure quality and validity.
• Communicating test results promptly and managing data entry and retrieval in laboratory systems.
• Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment and environment.
• Demonstrating respectful and caring behavior towards patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Working alternate shifts as required.
• Performing additional duties such as phlebotomy as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or enrollment in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS), with completed laboratory rotations in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services. Equivalent military laboratory training and/or work experience (2 years) also meet the education requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or another recognized certifying agency.

Additional Information

• 40 hours per week, 4 ten-hour shifts
• Shift hours: 5:30 pm - 4:00 am
• Rotational weekend schedule (every 3rd weekend)
