  • Prepare and test patient specimens.
  • Ensure CAP, AABB, DNV, and FDA requirements are followed as applicable.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to stay operational.
  • Perform other duties related to the medical laboratory as assigned.

Learn more about why we are one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas.Job SummaryMedical Laboratory Technicians are responsible for testing patient specimens, ensuring accuracy of tests, and communicating results to providersReports to: Supervisor, Medical LaboratoryJob Specific ResponsibilitiesDaily assignments may include but are not limited to:• Prepare and test patient specimens• Ensuring requirements of the CAP, AABB, DNV, and FDA (as applicable to section/shift) are followed• Ensure equipment is operational by performing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting as needed• All other duties assigned related to the medical laboratoryEducation and Experience• AA/AS in approved scienceRequired Licensures/Certifications/RegistrationsN/ASkills and Abilities• Understands and can articulate correct procedures to accurately identify patients, label specimens, and verify there is adequate sampling for the testing ordered• Proficient use of computer peripherals• Clear communicator; speak, read, and write English fluentlyInteraction with Other Departments and Other RelationshipsThis position has much interaction with nursing staff and other hospital departmentsPhysical CapabilitiesMedical Laboratory Technicians can expect to stand for long periods of time and walk frequently. This position also requires frequent stooping, sitting, reaching, bending and kneeling. The incumbent may also be required to carry items up to 50 pounds.
