Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates degree in sciences preferred; completion of an approved medical laboratory technician training program or equivalent.
• Certification or eligibility as a medical laboratory technician by ASCP/AMT/NCA/AAB is required or preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and remember multiple procedures and policies.
• Willingness to work irregular hours with varying assignments.
• Adherence to safe work practices and CAP standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality specimens with correct patient identification and proper tubes, documenting performance improvements.
• Perform maintenance and updates on instruments and understand operations and limitations.
• Assure accurate results by performing quality control and instrument troubleshooting.
• Perform testing in a timely manner to meet stat, urgent, and routine turnaround requirements.
• Participate in departmental activities to maintain CAP standards at all times.
• Follow safety standards and safe work practices.
• Assist in continuing education and procedure updates.
