Job summary

Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center and Veterans Community Living Center in Colorado is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform chemical analyses, blood typing, and QC, enabling physicians to diagnose and treat patients.

You will collect specimens, maintain equipment, ensure safety and compliance, and participate in infection control. Requires associate degree in clinical lab science or medical technology and MLT certification; one year of lab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited program.
• One year of previous work experience in a laboratory setting is required.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
• Ability to obtain annual flu vaccination and required immunizations; TB test may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical analyses of body fluids to identify normal and abnormal components.
• Analyze blood cells using microscopic techniques and standard lab procedures.
• Prepare blood products for transfusion, including typing and crossmatching (as qualified).
• Conduct venipuncture and blood draws using aseptic technique.
• Maintain equipment through calibration, maintenance, and inventory control.
• Ensure supplies are stocked and resources used efficiently.
• Document results and communicate critical values promptly to clinicians.
• Perform QC activities and sign off on QC reports.
