Job Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will perform routine and specialized laboratory assays of patient specimens to assist in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. You will report to the Supervisor.

Primary Tasks:

1. Perform laboratory tests including microscopic, chemical, hematological, immunologic, and bacteriologic analyses according to established standards.
2. Maintain detailed records of tests performed and report results to appropriate personnel.
3. Understand and comply with laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance policies.
4. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and sterilize laboratory tools and instruments.
5. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
6. Use hospital and laboratory information systems and software effectively.
7. Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel to provide technical guidance and address concerns.
8. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Associate degree in science or related field, or
• Practicing Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) before 1994, or
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification.

Possess knowledge and capability to perform daily maintenance on laboratory instruments.
