POSTION: Medical Laboratory Technician Department: Medical Reports to: Medical Clinic Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Employment Status: Full-Time; during clinic hours Work Schedule: Monday-Friday Work Setting: In-person clinic setting Location: Santa Barbara, California 93110 Pay Range: $35.00-$42.00 per hour. American Indian Health & Services is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our growing public health primary care outpatient clinic. This position performs routine medical laboratory testing that supports the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and assists with the operation of a moderate-complexity medical laboratory.
This position regularly requires the employee to use their hands, reach with their hands and arms, and communicate verbally. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit and may occasionally be required to stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. The position also requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be exposed to infectious substances, hazardous chemicals, hazardous waste, and moving equipment. These risks are minimized through compliance with established safety policies and procedures. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate. Clinic employees may be required to remain at or report to work during public health incidents or emergencies. This may require a non-traditional schedule or duties outside the employee’s normal assignment during the incident or emergency.
