Our Client, a Medical Research company, is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician for their Pittsburgh, PA location.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine lab tests under the supervision of senior laboratory personnel in qualified specialties.
- Conduct and report analytical tests following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring quality control.
- Perform moderate complexity testing with appropriate training and oversight.
- Support laboratory policies for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
- Maintain timely test result turnaround, including STAT or critical results.
- Verify reagent and test kit dates, expiration, and opening dates.
- Perform and document quality control analyses to ensure accuracy and proper instrument function.
- Notify supervisory staff of any issues related to test procedures.
- Report deviations from testing protocols and cooperate with investigations.
- Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for reporting.
- Maintain a safe, functional, and sanitary laboratory environment.
- Complete required training and competency assessments.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety protocols, including the use of PPE and engineering controls.
- Assist clients or lab personnel with inquiries, if applicable.
- Participate in inspections by regulatory agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (March 14, 1990).
- 1-3 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Ability to lift objects between 1-50 pounds with assistance as needed.
- Ability to stand and work at the bench for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for using laboratory instruments.
- Knowledge of clinical testing procedures and organizational policies.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confidential handling of client information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems.
- Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- ASCP Certification required.
