Job description

**Responsibilities**

Accurately analyze and report all tests ordered by the Medical Staff in a timely manner, following laboratory procedures and regulatory guidelines to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.

**Job Responsibilities:**

  1. Align with local and state requirements to perform lab test procedures on patient specimens, adhering to the Section’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  2. Provide excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of bias patterns, rapid notification of caregivers of critical values, and completing testing within established turn-around times.
  3. Ensure major automated equipment is operational by performing maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and contacting vendors for assistance or repairs.
  4. Perform calibration and quality control procedures, maintaining records to ensure tests are within established parameters.
  5. Participate in proficiency testing and review results with laboratory leaders.
  6. Assist in evaluating and documenting new procedures and equipment validation to provide current laboratory technology to physicians.
  7. Engage in continuing education, training, and teaching to enhance technical skills of staff and students.
  8. Manage inventory of supplies, including monitoring, ordering, and storing received supplies.
  9. Complete all work efficiently and pass ongoing issues to incoming staff.
  10. Represent CommonSpirit Health professionally, communicating effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and the public via various communication channels.
  11. Adhere to all regulatory requirements.

**Qualifications**

**Education Required:**

Associate’s Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.

**Licensure/Certification Preferred:**

MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.

**Work Experience Required:**

None.

$18.74 - $25.77/hour
