Job Summary
Performs clinical laboratory tests according to established procedures of verification, processing, testing, and reporting.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs quality control procedures to validate test results according to established standards and records results appropriately.
- Assists in delivering physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
- Responds to 'technical question' calls from units and physicians.
- Performs preventive maintenance and monitoring of all equipment to ensure proper functioning and maintains related records.
- Records repairs, replacements, and maintenance needed of equipment on instrument logs.
- Maintains adequate supply inventories by rotating stock, checking expiration dates, and ordering replacements.
- Performs venipuncture on patients of all ages and other specimen collection using proper skills according to procedures.
- Assists supervisors in additional duties supporting the lab's quality program.
- Provides teaching and education to students and other personnel.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Science or a related field required upon hire, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
- No experience required.
- MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through ASCP or AMT required within 12 months of employment.

- Ability to meet requirements for "High Complexity Testing Personnel" per CLIA.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and keyboard data entry.
- Occasional sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.
- Rare lifting over 25 lbs and running.
