Job Summary

Performs clinical laboratory tests according to established procedures of verification, processing, testing, and reporting.

Job Responsibilities

1. Performs quality control procedures to validate test results according to established standards and records results appropriately.
2. Assists in delivering physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
3. Responds to 'technical question' calls from units and physicians.
4. Performs preventive maintenance and monitoring of all equipment to ensure proper functioning and maintains related records.
5. Records repairs, replacements, and maintenance needed of equipment on instrument logs.
6. Maintains adequate supply inventories by rotating stock, checking expiration dates, and ordering replacements.
7. Performs venipuncture on patients of all ages and other specimen collection using proper skills according to procedures.
8. Assists supervisors in additional duties supporting the lab's quality program.
9. Provides teaching and education to students and other personnel.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Science or a related field required upon hire, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
• No experience required.
• MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through ASCP or AMT required within 12 months of employment.
