Job summary

Logan Regional Medical Center in southern West Virginia seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform routine and complex tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood banking, supporting patient care in an acute care setting.

You will calibrate instruments, document results, maintain quality controls, and collaborate with physicians and lab staff. An associate degree and ASCP preferred; BCLS required per facility policy; hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in medical laboratory technology, biology, or related field (Required).
• MLT certification (ASCP) upon hire preferred.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support upon hire or per facility policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis, and immunohematology.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments per protocols.
• Analyze results, identify anomalies, and report critical values promptly.
• Document results and ensure QA/QC and regulatory compliance.
• Draw venipunctures and collect specimens as required.
• Train new staff and students on laboratory procedures.
• Maintain infection control and keep a clean work area.
• Communicate results with medical staff and departments.
• Support performance improvement and continuing education.
