Job summary

Logan Regional Medical Center in southern West Virginia seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform routine and complex tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood banking, ensuring accurate results to support patient care in an acute care setting.

The MLT collaborates with physicians and staff, maintains instruments, follows quality controls, and participates in education and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required in medical laboratory technology or related field.
• Experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory preferred.
• Certification per ASCP MLT upon hire preferred; BCLS upon hire may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis, and immunohematology.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments per protocols.
• Analyze results, identify anomalies, and take corrective actions.
• Document results and report critical values promptly.
• Maintain quality controls and QA to ensure compliance.
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection as required.
• Assist training of new staff and students.
• Maintain clean workspace with infection control practices.
• Communicate effectively with medical staff and patients.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
