Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at the Dallas Medical City location. The position level (1, 2, or Sr) will depend on the candidate's experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures for moderate to high complexity tests.
  • Follow quality assurance and safety policies.
  • Assist with specimen collection and patient flow as needed.
  • Train staff in laboratory procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments.
  • Ensure adherence to testing protocols and document all activities.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
  • Prepare blood smears, perform microscopic examinations, and process specimens for testing.
  • Manage inventory and reagents.
  • Oversee laboratory activities in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Level 1: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field, current state license if required, AMT/ASCP certification preferred. Entry-level, no experience required.
  • Level 2: Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Level Sr: Minimum 5 years of experience.
Physical & Work Environment

Requires manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 40 lbs, and good vision and hearing. Work involves extensive standing and interaction in a clinical setting, with travel up to 70%.
