UPMC Lititz is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Lab Technician to join their team of excellent laboratory professionals. These generalist roles support and rotate through all areas of the laboratory, ensuring accurate testing for diagnosis and treatment.

Part-time positions include the opportunity for up to a $7,500 sign-on bonus. Responsibilities emphasize adherence to policies, quality control, and collaboration with laboratory customers to deliver timely results.

Qualifications

• Testing may be routine and advanced; accuracy is essential for patient care.
• Candidate should adhere to safety, quality assurance and hospital policies.
• Phlebotomy may be required for specimen collection.

Responsibilities

• Interact with laboratory customers courteously; respond to inquiries promptly.
• Follow procedures for collection and processing of specimens; ensure sample suitability.
• Recognize abnormal results and follow protocols; initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Operate and maintain equipment; perform quality control and calibration.
• Maintain knowledge of techniques and instruments and their effects on results.
• Assist with test development and method evaluation and implementation.
• Perform High Complexity Testing as defined by PA DOH without supervision.
• Provide first-line supervision of the section/department when delegated.
• Train and orient new employees, students and residents as assigned.
