Job summary

UPMC Lititz is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Lab Technician to join a team of professional medical laboratory staff. The role offers generalist opportunities that rotate through all areas of the laboratory and supports excellent patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

Interact with laboratory customers courteously; respond to telephone inquiries in a timely manner.
Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies; collect and process specimens for analysis following procedures.
Perform qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures according to established protocols with precision.
Recognize abnormal test results and follow-up per protocols; identify problems and take corrective action.
Operate and maintain equipment; perform quality control checks and calibration.
Maintain knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships.
Conduct or assist with test development and methodology evaluation.
Performs High Complexity Testing without direct supervision.
Train and orient new employees, students and residents as assigned.
