Job summary

HCA Healthcare and Brigham City Community Hospital are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a high-functioning laboratory team. The role involves receiving blood specimens, performing tests, and analyzing blood morphology to support accurate diagnoses.

You will operate automated analyzers, perform antibody screening and cross-matching, and communicate critical results to care teams, while embracing new testing methods and current technology.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program with certification.
• National ASCP MT/MLS/MLT certification or equivalent.
• Licensure must be completed within 1 year of hire.
• One year hospital/clinical lab experience preferred; new grads considered.
• BLS/BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Receive blood specimens and perform blood tests; study morphology of blood components.
• Perform routine or special clinical lab tests using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopy.
• Maintain and operate lab equipment (analyzers, osmometers, etc.).
• Perform antibody screening, identification, and cross-matching for transfusion.
• Notify nursing units/physicians of critical lab values.
• Implement new testing methods and instrumentation to stay current.
