West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our laboratory team. This role involves performing a variety of blood tests, using automated and manual methods, and ensuring accurate results to support patient care.

The candidate will handle antibody screening, cross-matching, and interpretation of results, while maintaining equipment and adopting new testing methods as needed. HCA Healthcare network access supports professional growth and excellence.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited Medical Technology program with appropriate certification (Associate’s acceptable).
• ASCP MT/MLS/MLT certification or equivalent.
• Licensure to complete within 1 year of hire.
• 1 year hospital/clinical lab experience preferred; new grads considered.
• BLS/BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Receive blood specimens, perform blood tests, and study morphology of blood components.
• Perform routine or special clinical laboratory tests using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopy.
• Maintain and use laboratory equipment including analyzers and osmometers.
• Perform antibody screening, identification, and cross-matching for transfusion safety.
• Notify nursing units/physicians of critical lab values.
• Implement new testing methods and instrumentation to stay current.

Education

Medical Technology degree or equivalent with certification

ASCP MT/MLS/MLT certification or equivalent

BLS/BCLS certification
