Job summary

Lone Peak Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a high-functioning laboratory team dedicated to accurate, timely testing and compassionate patient care. You will handle blood tests, morphology studies, and a range of automated and manual laboratory procedures.

The role requires MT/MLS/MLT certification, relevant education, and BLS certification; prior hospital lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program (Associate’s degree acceptable) or a BS in MT/Chemistry/Biology with certification.
• Nationally recognized MT/MLS/MLT ASCP certification or equivalent.
• Licensure must be completed within 1 year of hire.
• One year of hospital or clinical laboratory experience preferred; new grads considered.
• BLS/BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Receive blood specimens, perform blood tests, and study blood morphology.
• Perform routine or special tests in one or more lab sections using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopy.
• Maintain and operate Laboratory equipment including automated analyzers, chemistry analyzers, ion-specific electrodes, osmometers, and other analyzers.
• Perform antibody screening, identification, and crossmatching procedures for transfusion.
• Notify nursing units and/or physicians of critical lab values.
• Implement new testing methods, products, and instrumentation to stay current with technology.
