Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in MLS with clinical rotation or in a chemical/physical/biological science with MLS program.
  • Education must include required chemistry and biology coursework and clinical experience.
  • Certification requirements upon hire: MLS/MLS technologist credentials from ASCP/AMT or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year in a clinical laboratory performing moderate/high complexity testing.

Bachelor's Degree in chemical/physical/biological science + MLS program
60 semester/90 quarter hours with chemistry/biology courses
Professional certification: ASCP/AMT MLS or equivalent
1 year clinical laboratory experience in moderate/high complexity testing

Job description

Description

The position is responsible for professional Medical Laboratory Scientist bench duties within the laboratory, for the assigned section(s). The position performs routine and complex tests or analyses in any of these potential sections (as assigned): Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Toxicology, Microbiology, Molecular, Mycology, Immunohematology, LIS and Lean. The position has responsibility for planning, performing and evaluating laboratory testing analysis; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations. Bachelor's degree level position with applicants who obtained education outside of the United States must have their education evaluated for equivalency by an Acceptable Evaluation Agency for Foreign Transcripts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited college/university that included clinical rotation or
  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science AND completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program or
  • Bachelor's Degree with completion of 60 semester/90 quarter hours from an accredited college/university that includes a minimum of 6 semester/9 quarter hours of chemistry, 6 semester/9 quarter hours of biology, and 12 semester/18 quarter hours of other chemistry, biology, and/or medical laboratory science courses AND at least three months full time clinical experience in all laboratory areas.
  • Upon hire: National Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Upon hire: National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists or
  • Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Medical Technologist.
  • 1 year in a clinical laboratory performing moderate and high complexity testing.
