Position: Medical Technologist I

The Medical Technologist I functions independently under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor or Senior Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conducts basic and advanced tests on blood samples, both donor and patient, to ensure proper transfusion of blood and blood products.
  2. Recognizes and resolves discrepancies observed in blood specimens or laboratory equipment; determines procedures based on preliminary serological results; maintains records of transfusions.
  3. Gains experience and develops working knowledge by performing routine and complex procedures utilizing complex instrumentation and manual methods.
  4. Responsible for the accuracy, interpretation, and reporting of results.
  5. Performs and documents equipment maintenance and quality control.
  6. Refers problems and unusual results to appropriate personnel.
  7. Performs clerical and support services as needed.
  8. Responds to customer needs and requests.
  9. Participates in proficiency testing and continuing education programs.
Qualifications:

Required: BS/BA in Science from an accredited college and ASCP Certification Eligible (required) or Certified (Preferred).
