JOB SUMMARY

Sign On Bonus $5,000.00 for New Hires Only

Location: BSWH Medical Center Irving, TX

Department: Lab

Shift: Night 7on/7off, 9:00pm - 7:30am

Preferred Experience: Must be ASCP certified or equivalent. At least 1 year of leadership experience and 3 years of MLS experience.

The Med Lab Scientist 3 performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and studies. Assists with supervision of laboratory operations. Responsible for problem resolution, quality control, and equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions of the Role
  1. Performs laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and regulations.
  2. Follows quality control, assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
  3. Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting.
  4. Accurately reports test results.
  5. Maintains inventory of supplies.
  6. Communicates effectively with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
  7. Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
  8. Demonstrates and teaches laboratory beliefs and technical skills.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years.
  • Certification/Licensure: Must have one of the following certifications: ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Intern'l Hematology Tech (ASCP-IH), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC), ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH), ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM). Must have one certification from recognized agencies such as the American Board of Histocompatibility (ABHI), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB). Alternatively, grandfathered HEW Licensee or other recognized certifications listed.
