Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead

Work environment: Blood Bank (Transfusion Services)

Work hours: Full Time - Days - Sun-Wed 1200-2230

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or Biological/Chemical Sciences. Existing degrees may be grandfathered for those hired as CLS II before Jan 3, 2010, with a requirement to obtain the degree within 3 months of hire.
  • Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program.
  • 2 years of experience in a Medical Laboratory preferred.
  • Blood Bank experience required.
  • MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or equivalent license required, with specific experience durations.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain knowledge of continuous improvement and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Assist bench technologists, review QC, participate in proficiency testing, and prepare reports.
  • Participate in quality improvement teams and review policies for compliance.
  • Manage workflow, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely testing.
  • Perform daily technical operations, evaluate workload, research methods, and ensure ongoing education.
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, and HIPAA regulations.
