Position Details:

Summary of Job Duties: The Medical Laboratory Scientist II in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory will perform high complexity Molecular testing, including PCR and FISH, using both automated and manual methods.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Cytotechnology, Molecular Biology, or an ASCP approved discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Clinical Laboratory.
  • ASCP Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Cytogenetics (CG), Cytotechnologist (CT), or Molecular Biology (MB) certification.
  • Knowledge of current testing methods in Molecular Biology Laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in Molecular Biology Laboratory.
  • ASCP Specialist in Molecular Biology (SMB).
  • Experience with manual FISH analysis and/or PCR testing.
Responsibilities:
  • Organize and prioritize workload independently.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in Molecular processes, make critical decisions regarding results, QC, and maintenance.
  • Support departmental functions and assist supervisor as needed.
  • Process, evaluate, and triage patient specimens, perform PCR or FISH tests according to procedures.
  • Record and evaluate QC data regularly for review.
  • Maintain safety practices, follow regulatory requirements, and engage with supervisors and Medical Director as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience.
