Department: ICE | LPSL CPATH Molecular Biology

Summary of Job Duties: The Medical Laboratory Scientist II in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory will perform high complexity Molecular based testing in PCR or FISH, including automated and manual testing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Cytotechnology, Molecular Biology or an ASCP approved discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Clinical Laboratory.
  • ASCP Clinical Laboratory Scientist certification (CLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Cytogenetics (CG), Cytotechnologist (CT), or Molecular Biology (MB) certification.
  • Knowledge of testing methods currently in use in the Molecular Biology Laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Molecular Biology Laboratory.
  • ASCP Specialist in Molecular Biology (SMB).
  • Manual FISH analysis and/or Manual PCR testing and analysis.

Responsibilities include organizing and prioritizing workload, demonstrating technical expertise, supporting the department, processing patient specimens, recording QC data, maintaining safety and regulatory compliance, and performing other duties as needed.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
