Job summary

ProMedica Toledo Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform complex laboratory tests that inform diagnoses and treatments. You will think critically to evaluate results and issues, interpret data, and communicate findings to health care teams for optimal patient care.

Throughout, you will serve as the lab expert, ensuring accuracy, quality, and collaboration. This per-diem position emphasizes flexibility and teamwork within the Toledo North Laboratories.

Qualifications

• Doctoral, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or transcripts showing 60 semester hours from an accredited institution indicating 24 semester hours of medical technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours in chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical technology in any combination
• OR meet an alternate qualification route for Testing Personnel for High Complexity Testing ASCP MLS or Categorical eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire

Job Summary

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you perform complex lab tests essential for diagnosing, treating, and preventing a variety of medical conditions. You will use critical thinking as you evaluate and solve problems related to biological specimens that you analyze, and you will provide interpretation of those tests. When questions arise regarding results or factors affecting results, you serve as the expert when answering. You also act as a connector to foster effective communication between the lab and health care teams.
