Job summary

WakMed Health & Hospitals in Cary, NC is seeking a clinical laboratory professional to perform routine and specialized tests for diagnosis and treatment. You will evaluate results with considerable independent judgment within established methods and assist in QC, safety, and regulatory practices.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree in Medical Technology (or related), with a Bachelor's degree preferred, and 2 years of clinical lab experience in moderate/high complexity testing.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in a clinical laboratory science field.
• ASCP or equivalent licensure preferred.
• 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in moderate/high complexity testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests and procedures.
• Utilize equipment, instruments, and computer systems to generate accurate patient results.
• Participate in quality control, safety, and regulatory activities; contribute to new procedures and instrumentation.

Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems. Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods. Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies. Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and instrumentation. May assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, and computer systems. Trains new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
