Medical Laboratory Scientist I/Technologist I, Certified

Position Details

Schedule: 7-On/7-Off week, 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Training Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Schedule may change based on lab needs.
Department: Mass Spec Operations (MSO) - 890

Primary Purpose

Performs routine and complex laboratory tests, providing rapid and accurate results under supervision, supporting physicians' diagnoses.

Essential Functions

• Performs waived, moderate, and high-complexity tests following SOPs.
• Operates, calibrates, troubleshoots lab instruments; reports issues.
• Conducts quality control and maintains records.
• Handles specimens properly, documents data accurately.
• Participates in proficiency testing and quality assurance.
• Recognizes critical and unexpected results, escalates appropriately.
• Correlates lab data with clinical information, evaluates test validity.
• Prioritizes testing, manages workflow, and documents resolutions.
• Trains staff and provides technical guidance.
• Maintains inventory, reviews data reports, and performs peer assessments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements

Includes bending, reaching, mobility, communication, PPE use, and visual acuity, with adherence to safety policies.

Education & Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or related field, with certification (MLS/MT) from ASCP or AAB. Candidates near graduation may be considered with a 6-month certification deadline.
