Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Completion of an accredited medical laboratory scientist program.
• National Certification as ASCP, AAB, or AMT, or eligible for board certification; certification required within 6 months from hire.

Responsibilities

• Verifies routine results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability using prescribed guidelines.
• Performs, evaluates, and documents all quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Receives guidance and direction from more experienced team members or lead.
• Maintains current Florida license as a Medical Technologist in the specialty or specialties required by the laboratory section(s) assigned.
• Demonstrates computer system proficiency including ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver and reports unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Maintains compliance with Baptist Health policies and procedures.
• Performs specimen collection procedures, specimen receiving and processing as required.
