Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for a hospital-based role in North Bergen, NJ, with an every-other-weekend schedule (Sat & Sun) 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, as needed.

Pay range is $30.00–$40.35 per hour, with potential shift differentials and annual bonus opportunities depending on performance and hours worked. The position requires education in medical technology or related fields and ASCP certification; prior clinical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or an Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• ASCP Certification is referenced as a license/certification for the role.
• 1 year of clinical experience (high complexity testing) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested the same way as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their guidelines.
• Follow established policies and procedures when test systems are not within acceptable performance.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting and notify senior staff.

BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology

Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology

Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493
