Job summary

Baptist Health Birmingham is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to analyze blood and body fluids using automated and manual methods in a fast-paced hospital laboratory.

You will verify results, perform quality control, maintain instruments, and ensure timely communication of critical results to caregivers.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree, MLS program completion, and national certification; benefits start on day one.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Completion of an accredited medical laboratory scientist program required.
• National Certification as ASCP/AAB/AMT or equivalent, eligible for board certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Verifies routine results and quality control data for accuracy.
• Performs and documents QC, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintains Florida license? (as per ad)
• Assists with instrument calibration and reagent preparation.
• Communicates critical results to patient caregivers and supervisor.
• Maintains attendance and adheres to Baptist Health policies.
