Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I to join our Anderson, IN team. Working Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with rotation every 4th weekend, you will perform routine high‑complexity tests, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain compliance with CLIA and HIPAA guidelines.

The successful candidate will have a BS in a related field with MLS credentials and 1 year of clinical experience in high complexity testing.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or related science with licensure/certification required or preferred.
• Clinical experience in high complexity testing is preferred.
• MLS/Medical Laboratory Scientist credentials or equivalent titles recognized in the field.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing and reporting results.
• Maintain proficiency testing records and ensure testing aligns with standards.
• Analyze specimens using approved procedures and review results for release.
• Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines in all activities.
• Identify issues affecting test performance and notify supervisor when needed.

BS in Medical Technology

BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology

Associate’s degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associate’s degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or formerly qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
• 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
• MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, Clinical Lab Scientist.
