Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for Elwood, IN on a 3‑week rotating schedule (6:00 PM–6:00 AM). The role supports patient diagnostics with state‑of‑the‑art laboratory instrumentation and quality controls.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or an associate's degree in Laboratory Science/Medical Technology.
• 1 year clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
• Licensure or certification as MLS/Medical Laboratory Scientist is common in this role.
• Experience with CLIA/HIPAA/OSHA guidelines is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting, and record-keeping of patient results.
• Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.

Medical Laboratory Scientist I – Elwood, IN – 3‑week rotating schedule (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
Week 3: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday

Pay Range

$30.00+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Qualifications

Education: BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or associate's degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Work Experience: 1 year clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
