Job summary

Providence Mission-Laguna Beach Hospital in Laguna Beach, CA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the clinical laboratory team. This per-diem position covers 8-hour night shifts and requires California CLS license.

Under supervision of Chief CLS, you will process specimens, perform tests, analyze results, and report them with accuracy to support diagnoses across the patient age spectrum. Experience with neonate to geriatric care is valued.

Qualifications

• California CLS license required or to be obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and process patient specimens and perform clinical laboratory tests for diagnosing and treating disease.
• Analyze, interpret, and report test results with accuracy and timeliness.
• Verify tests and notify appropriate personnel of critical results with proper documentation.
• Provide diagnostic laboratory services for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Under the general supervision of the Chief Clinical Laboratory Scientist, obtains and processes patient specimens and performs various clinical laboratory test for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Analyzes, interprets, and reports test results and ensures accuracy of same. Verifies tests as necessary; directly notifies appropriate personnel of critical results and provides proper documentation. Provides diagnostic laboratory services for the care of neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient.

Required Qualifications:

• Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
• Upon hire: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years clinical laboratory experience.
