Job summary

VCU Health in Richmond, VA seeks a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to provide accurate and timely testing and results for diagnosis and treatment. The role requires high complexity testing and adherence to quality standards.

Offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus for offers accepted by October 31, 2026. Licensing/certification as MT/MLS is required or pursued within 6 months; on-call and weekend shifts may be required depending on department needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) from an accredited program.
• Biological Science degree with NAACLS-accredited CLS/MT certificate acceptable.
• Biological Science degree with 5+ years hospital lab experience in high complexity testing.
• Current MT/MLS certification or within 6 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests according to established procedures.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and validates lab equipment.
• Performs quality control and follows QA guidelines.
• Educates and trains laboratory personnel, students, and residents.
• Maintains laboratory supplies and inventory.
• May perform specimen collection, processing and phlebotomy as applicable.
• Ensures accreditation standards from CAP, TJ and other agencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
