Job summary

Mass General Brigham in Weymouth, MA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I to join the laboratory team. You will perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting for waived and non-waived tests in line with CLIA and lab procedures, supporting accurate, high-quality patient care.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Laboratory Sciences, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of laboratory experience required.
  • ASCP/BOC Medical Technologist certification preferred.
  • Ability to follow written protocols and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Process specimens and perform authorized laboratory testing following established protocols and quality standards.
  • Report patient test results accurately and maintain complete records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and document quality control activities, calibrations, instrument maintenance, and proficiency testing as required.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance or result reporting; escalate when needed.
  • Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from specifications.
  • Collaborate with physicians, hospital personnel, employees, and patients in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

Weymouth, MA | Primary Location: 541 Main Street | Occasional Coverage: Cancer Center, 101 Columbian Street, South Weymouth. We're offering a generous sign-on bonus of $10,000 to welcome you to our team. About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Medical Laboratory Scientist I to join our laboratory team in Weymouth, MA. In this role, you will perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting for waived and non-waived laboratory tests in accordance with CLIA requirements and established laboratory procedures. What You’ll Do
  • Process specimens and perform authorized laboratory testing following established protocols and quality standards.
  • Report patient test results accurately and maintain complete records in accordance with laboratory and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and document quality control activities, calibrations, instrument maintenance, and proficiency testing as required.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues that may impact test performance or result reporting, escalating concerns to the appropriate supervisor or consultant when needed.
  • Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Collaborate professionally with physicians, hospital personnel, employees, and patients in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Laboratory Sciences, or a related required field.
  • 1-2 years of laboratory experience required.
  • Medical Technologist certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification preferred.
  • Experience may not be accepted in lieu of the required degree.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment, operation, maintenance, repair, and analytic techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
