UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (MLA) for the General Laboratory. This USW union position offers a 1.0 FTE schedule with 40 hours per week across varied shifts.

You will review orders, collect samples, perform tests per requisition, verify patient identity, and assist with inventory and performance improvement efforts while supporting high-quality patient care.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent required or better.
• Basic math, interpretive and analytical skills essential.
• Attention to detail and accurate information handling.

Mansioni

• Review orders, register patients, and enter tests per requisition.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers before collections.
• Obtain specimens by venipuncture, finger or heel sticks per policy.
• Label specimens with identifiers, date/time, and collector initials.
• Perform urine drug screens and breath alcohol testing per policy.
• Coordinate drug-monitoring collections with nursing.
• Resolve unclear orders by contacting providers or supervisors.
• Process specimens and distribute to lab sections or references.
• Maintain par levels and assist with weekly inventory.
• Participate in performance improvement and education; other duties as assigned.
