Essentia Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Lakewalk Clinic and Lakewalk Pharmacy in Duluth, MN. This part-time role (0.9 FTE) will work 36 hours per week across day/evening shifts at Proctor and Lakewalk Clinics.

The MLA will collect and process specimens, conduct waived tests, and support pre- and post-analytical tasks while promoting patient safety and compliance with licensure standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Medical Laboratory Assistant Program.
• Completes an internal Medical Laboratory Assistant training program within 1 year of hire.
• Phlebotomy or ASCP certification preferred.
• Recent specimen preparation and processing experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operators’ license preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills preferred.

Responsabilités

• Support pre-analytical and post-analytical functions within Essentia Health Laboratories.
• Promote patient safety during specimen collection and processing.
• Perform waived lab testing following accreditation standards and state licensure.
• Collect specimens via venipuncture or capillary skin puncture and other specimens (urine, swabs, etc.).
• Process and handle specimens to support clinical laboratory testing.
• Perform laboratory testing where applicable according to accreditation/licensure requirements.
• Assist in training of new staff, students, and other personnel.
• Follow Essentia Health policies to ensure safety and quality.
