Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Laboratory Services team. This role requires an Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and ASCP BOC certification, with 3+ years of clinical experience.

The incumbent will prepare specimens, perform tests, ensure proper labeling, and document results using the electronic laboratory system. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 3 years or more of clinical laboratory experience.
• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and ASCP BOC or equivalent certification.
• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related discipline preferred, certification may be required within first year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control testing, instrument maintenance, and competency activities.
• Perform routine laboratory testing using established procedures.
• Identify normal and abnormal laboratory values and document results.
• Notify and document critical results per policy.
• Ensure reagents and materials are stocked and quality controlled.
• Assist in orientation and training of staff and students.
