Job summary

GuideWell Emergency Doctors in Florida seeks a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician to support outpatient, emergency medicine services. The role requires an active Florida MT/MLT license and relevant certifications, with the ability to travel between local facilities within a 50-mile radius.

The candidate will perform a range of lab duties, participate in QA, and ensure timely, accurate results.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory, chemical or biological science preferred.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a generalist technologist or technician.
• Active Florida MT or MLT license with ASCP/AMT/AAB certifications.
• Ability to travel between local facilities within a 50-mile radius to cover shifts.
• Bilingual preferred; strong communication skills and English proficiency.
• Must pass background and drug tests; must have or obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Complete orders for a variety of patients from minor treatment to acutely ill.
• Operate lab analyzers proficiently and address QC errors or equipment malfunctions.
• Prepare specimens for transport to reference labs and maintain quality results.
• Participate in QA activities and education/training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Complete daily checklists and participate in morning huddles when on shift.
• Maintain lab/reagent inventory and reference organizational protocols.
