Job summary

Atrium Health in Winston-Salem is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for the Laboratory Department on the Winston Campus. This full-time, first-shift role includes rotating weekends and holidays, with responsibilities across specimen handling, testing, and reporting results.

You will ensure accuracy and timeliness of test results, adhere to QC/QA procedures, maintain safety standards, and participate in ongoing education to keep certifications current.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred.
• MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
• Previous experience as a Medical Lab Technician preferred.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient laboratory test results.
• Ensures quality of test results by following defined Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.
• Ensures safety and compliance.
• Maintains appropriate education to accomplish work objectives and maintain current certifications as applicable.
• Ensures productive and efficient operations of the section and department.
• Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

Education & Experience

• Associate degree preferred.
• Previous experience as a Medical Lab Technician preferred.

Licensure, Certification And/or Registrations

• MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.

• Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens or patients.
