Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for the Winston Campus in Winston-Salem, NC. This full-time position on the 1st shift includes rotating weekends and holidays.

The role emphasizes accuracy, QA/QC, safety, and ongoing certification maintenance within the Laboratory department. The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree (preferred) and MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification, with strong communication and technical Skills.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient laboratory test results.
• Ensures quality of test results by following defined Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.

Education & Experience:

• Associate degree preferred.
• Previous experience as a Medical Lab Technician preferred.

Licensure, Certification and/or Registrations:

• MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.

Work Environment:

• Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens or patients.
• Exposed to risk of bloodborne/airborne disease.
• Must wear protective equipment (gloves, gowns/lab coats, eye protection, face protection).
• Exposed to hazards for electrical/mechanical/power equipment.
• May be exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens.
• May be exposed to toxic/flammable/explosive chemicals and gases.
• Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment.
