Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Reference Lab Testing department at Winston Campus in Winston-Salem, NC. The role is full-time days with occasional weekends/holidays as needed.

An Associate degree is preferred and MLS/MT certification (ASCP) or equivalent is favorable. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate, timely test results, adhering to QC/QA procedures, maintaining safety and certifications, and supporting efficient lab operations through strong

How You’ll Impact Patient Care

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient laboratory test results.
• Ensures quality of test results by following defined Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.
• Ensures safety and compliance:
• Maintains appropriate education to accomplish work objectives and maintain current certifications as applicable.
• Ensure productive and efficient operations of the section and department.
• Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

Work Environment

• Exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens or patients.
• Exposure to risk of blood borne/airborne diseases.
• Possible exposure to odorous chemicals and specimens.

• Subject to many interruptions and stressful situations.
• Must wear protective equipment (gloves, gowns/lab coats, eye protection, face protection).
• Exposure to hazards for electrical/mechanical/power equipment.
• May require judgment/action which could result in death of patient.
• Occasionally subject to irregular hours.
• Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
