Job summary

Atrium Health in High Point, NC is seeking a Medical Technologist for the Laboratory department on a 3rd shift (7 on/7 off, 8pm–6:30am). The role involves performing patient tests, handling blood components, and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree with NAACLS MT program completion, ASCP MT certification, and relevant clinical lab experience. This position includes oversight of student/tech staff and equipment operation.

• 2–5 years clinical lab experience depending on track

Responsibilities

• Performs and provides accurate laboratory test results on human patients.
• Prepares and issues blood components for patient transfusions.
• Assists in collection and transport of patient samples from clinics to laboratory sections.
• Handles hazardous materials in accordance with regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Requisitions and maintains inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment for laboratory operations.
• Supervises, trains, and reviews work of students and lower-level technicians.
• Operates complex specialized laboratory instruments and instructs others in their use.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education/Experience/Certifications To Qualify

• Bachelor's degree and successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) Medical Technologist program, five years' clinical lab experience, or two years' clinical lab experience with Medical Lab Tech (MLT) certification.
• Previous experience as Medical Technologist preferred.
• Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP certification required.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Exposure to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, waste, odorous chemicals and specimens.
• Subject to electrical, radiant energy and radiation hazards.
