Job summary

Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for per diem diagnostic testing across specialty sections. You will perform laboratory procedures in accordance with hospital policies, ensuring prompt, accurate results.

Required: A.A.S. in Applied Science. Preferred: MLS/MLS credentials and experience with instrumentation and phlebotomy. Competitive per diem compensation and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; A.A.S. in applied science.
• Preferred MLS/MLS certification or military equivalent.
• Experience with CLIA regulatory requirements is a plus.

Position Summary:

Performs diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures in various specialty sections of the clinical laboratory in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Experience

• Required:.
• Preferred: 1-3 years’ experience working as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a moderate to high complexity clinical laboratory testing environment, meeting or exceeding the regulatory CLIA testing personnel requirements

Education

• Required: Associate's degree in Applied Science (A.A.S.)
• Preferred: Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution or military service equivalent required

License and Credentials

• Required:
• Preferred: ASCP, NCA, or AMT certification

Skills

• Required: Excellent critical thinking skills. Verbal and written communication at college level. Experience with instrumentation and manual methods commonly utilized in a clinical lab setting. Accurately and efficiently analyzes specimens. Phlebotomy competency.
• Preferred: Proficiency with hospital and lab information systems, Microsoft Word & Excel.
