Job summary

Virtua Health in Mount Holly, NJ, seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MT) for per diem, 2nd shift, evenings, and every other weekend. You will perform moderate to high complexity testing on blood, body fluids, and tissues, with strict adherence to procedures and quality controls.

This role requires an associate degree in laboratory science, valid registration as MLT/MT, and ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Externship of 4–6 months required.
• Valid registration as MLT or MT with CLIA high complexity experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing according to procedures.
• Validate results post-analytically and investigate deviations.
• Complete quality control documentation according to policies.
• Handle pre-analytical processes: patient ID, phlebotomy, labeling, receipt and shipment.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Deliver outstanding customer service with effective communication.

Summary

Analyzes, interprets, and validates laboratory procedures of various complexities on biological material such as blood, body fluids, and tissues for Virtua customers.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and precisely according to established procedure without direct supervision.
• Post analytically, validates results using established indicators, investigates deviations from the norm, recognizes trends or shifts, and applies corrective action.
• Performs, reviews and documents all quality control according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
• Correctly operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
• Provides Outstanding Customer Service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

Externship- 4-6 months, good interpersonal and time management skills

Required Education

Associate's degree in laboratory science area.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Valid registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent or meets CLIA88 requirements for high complexity testing. ASCP certification preferred.

Hourly Rate: $38.50
