Job summary

Ardent Health Services is seeking a PRN Medical Lab Technician in Pittsburg, TX to perform routine and specialized laboratory testing. The position requires ASCP or equivalent certification and 5+ years of clinical lab experience, with strong knowledge of laboratory techniques.

You will be responsible for quality control, maintenance, and inventory, and will participate in performance improvement tasks to support accurate patient diagnoses.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies or related science is required.
• Certification must be maintained without lapse (ASCP or equivalent). If lapse occurs, role downgrades to non-certified until reinstated.
• 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician is required.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement tasks, new employee training, and proficiency testing as assigned.
• Function as a professional responsible for testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.

• The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.

• Will additionally participate in the quality assurance and performance improvement tasks, new employee training, and proficiency testing as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies or a chemical, physical or biological science associates degree.
• ASCP or equivalent.
  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment
  • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Technician (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
• 5+ years’ of clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
